IMMIGRATION INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Upon acceptance to study at Zera International Health Sciences, all international students, including those with refugee status and those ordinarily resident in Zambia, must apply for a student permit before traveling to Zambia if they are outside the country at the time of acceptance.
Applications should be submitted to the Head Office of Zambia Immigration in Lusaka or through the Zambian Mission in their respective Republic or Monarch, if immigration services are provided. Students are encouraged to visit the Immigration website at https://www.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm/ for guidance.
The estimated cost of the study permit is K6,820, and the equivalent rate in dollars can be checked on the Bank of Zambia website.
Medical examinations required for processing the study permit and for enrollment must be conducted at Chisomo Hospital, not in the student’s country of origin. Students who face difficulties completing the study permit application process in their home countries are advised to travel to Lusaka at the beginning of the respective semester and apply for a business visa upon entry. Business visas are valid for 30 days, providing students with sufficient time to complete the student visa process.
The study permit can then be applied for while in Zambia but within the validity period of the business visa. Full-time students are not permitted to enter on a visitor’s visa, and applying for a study permit while holding a visitor’s visa is not allowed.
